Sony is delivering a State of Play tonight! There were leaks about the event happening, but it has now been confirmed by Sony. We don’t know what games will be involved, but leaks have suggested the possibility of a major God of War announcement. There are now also leaks suggesting State of Play will see the unveiling of Destiny 2 developer, Bungie’s, new game, Gummy Bears.
State of Play Gummy Bears leak
Leaks claim State of Play will see the reveal of Gummy Bears. This is a multiplayer experience that was developed by Destiny 2’s Bungie. Although developed by Bungie, it is now reportedly under the helm of another unnamed PlayStation Studio that comprises of 40 Bungie employees who were part of the Bungie layoffs in 2024.
This leak comes courtesy of Spanish outlet, Vandal, as shared on the GamingLeaksAndRumors subreddit. In a translation of Vandal’s leak, the outlet claims to have had “access to information from sources close to the project [Gummy Bears] who assure that this new title will be presented today, during the State of Play”.
Vandal claims that their source accurately leaked to them the State of Play date, which suggests their Gummy Bears leak has credibility. In addition to appearing during Sony’s event, the same anonymous source has said Gummy Bears will also appear during a rumored Nintendo Direct for February.
This suggests that Gummy Bears will be multiplatform. The leak specifically states it will launch multiplatform from day one for PS5, PC, and Nintendo Switch, similar to LEGO Horizon Adventures.
As for what Gummy Bears is, previous leaks shared by Eurogamer claim it is a “team-based competitive MOBA”. It is also reportedly a “vibrant and colorful cosy” experience that uses Super Smash Bros-esque features to “attract a younger audience”.
