Starbreeze Studios has acquired Los Angeles-based developer Geminose in a deal worth $7 million, GamesIndustry.biz reports.

The developer will become the home of Starbreeze’s North American operations, with the studio reportedly working on a toys-to-life title similar to Skylanders and Disney Infinity.

The game is said to be aimed at children between the ages of 5-12 and the primary reason behind the deal.

“I should either [acquire Geminose] when they are so well known that it is safe to do sequels, but then it costs a lot of money. Or I should buy it just before it becomes known, which we did,” CEO Bo Andersson is reported to have said. “I have looked at Geminose [for a long time] and I’m quite sure that it will be very good.”

A quick search on LinkedIn reveals that Cos Lazouras, the CEO of Geminose, acted as the former president of Halcyon Games and the head of development at Vin Diesel’s game production company Tigon Studios.

Further details on Geminose’s title have not been revealed.
