Star Wars: The Old Republic is likely to hit 3 million sales in its first year, according to Cowen & Company analyst Doug Creutz.

In a research note distributed after the announcement of the MMO’s release date, Creutz stated the game will reach millions of users and then stay level at two million subscribers, CVG reports:

“We are assuming that the title sells through 3 million units in its first year of release, with the subscriber count reaching (and staying level at) 2 million by the end of CY12.

“We note that with the announcement of the title’s release date, we have seen pre-order activity for the title re-accelerate.”

BioWare plans to stagger the game’s launch by allowing select handfuls of users to play the game before it officially opens to the rest of the public.
