Aspyr has confirmed it’ll fix a game-breaking bug in its recent Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 2 port on Nintendo Switch.
The Nintendo Switch version of the classic RPG released earlier this month. However, it soon came to light that the game can be impossible to complete, thanks to a bug. As Kotaku notes, users have found the game crashing following the aptly-named Basilisk Crash cutscene after landing on Onderon.
Aspyr are, according to their support page, aware of the issue. They say they’ve been beavering away on a patch to fix this bug, which they intend to address in the game’s next update. However, at the time of writing there’s no word on exactly this will be.
Of course, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 2 was a notoriously buggy game on its original release. Though we’re not sure about any that’d outright stop your progress, we did note a number of issues back in our review in 2005. However, these would eventually be fixed by updates and modders years after the fact, revealing a decent RPG sequel underneath.
In fact, some of these fan-made patches and updates – some of which restored previously cut content – are coming to the Switch version. Aspyr confirmed that it’ll be releasing a ‘Sith Lords Restored Content DLC’ pack with some of the content, including a revamped ending, as a free download in Q3 2022 for Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 2 on the Nintendo Switch.
