EA’s catalogue of games are coming back to Steam through EA Access, and new releases like Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order will be released on Valve’s digital distribution platform (via IGN).
Twitter user RobotBrush discovered a test application for running Origin games on Steam, which sparked speculation that EA games would be coming back to the platform. By the looks of the application, it would let people run EA games through Steam, but they would still need verify it using the Origin software.
Then EA posted a video of a misty mug to its official Twitter account, and now it has formally announced that its games will be returning or releasing on Steam through EA Access. A subscription service priced at $4.99 a month, subscribers will receive access to a selection of its games (it calls it The Vault) on Steam as well as on Origin, and it also offers ‘exclusive catalog-wide discounts, and in-game member benefits for some of our biggest franchises.’
Soon, The Sims 4, Unravel 2, Apex Legends, FIFA 20, and Battlefield V will appear on Steam, though players will be waiting until next year to get their mitts on the multiplayer titles. And fortunately, Origin players and Steam players will be able to play together across their shared PC games.
Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is scheduled for release on November 15 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. A new launch trailer has just dropped and it’s short and snappy; check it out below.
