Star Wars Battlefront runs at a ‘very stable’ 60fps on PS4

The PS4 version of Star Wars Battlefront runs at a “very stable” 60 frames per second, according to an analysis of the game’s final code by Digital Foundry.

Describing the PS4 version’s performance as “excellent” in an analysis posted earlier today, Digital Foundry explained that “what we have here is basically a very stable 60fps. It’s not perfect – there are duplicates popping up here and there in select situations – but the overall level of performance is remarkably stable here, a far cry from Battlefield 4.”

The analysis goes on to say that the game’s performance is a “jump forward” from both the E3 demo and last month’s public beta, stating that “DICE has achieved a level of performance on par with the likes of Metal Gear Solid 5 and Halo 5”.

The site notes, however, that while it managed to play with “30 people engaged in battle”, it was unable to “play with the full 40 [players]”. “Based on what we’ve seen thus far, things are looking very promising,” it says.

The final game’s resolution has yet to be confirmed but, unless that has been improved following the beta, too, expect it to run at 900p on PS4.

Meanwhile, an initial analysis of the Xbox One version by NX Gamer suggests that the game also puts in a superb performance on Microsoft’s platform, appearing to achieve an almost perfect 60fps.

That version, however, is believed to run at a lower 720p resolution and, while being an excellent looking game overall, was criticised in our review for some of its “jagged” environments.
