Speaking with Mashable, Star Wars: Battlefront II Creative Director Bernd Diemer said the game won’t have a season pass, while EA is keeping quiet on the matter. Diemer said EA and DICE want to take a different approach to DLC with Battlefront 2.

‘When we looked at the way Battlefront had evolved over its lifetime, with the DLC and everything, we decided, ‘You know what? For this type of game, season passes are not the best thing. We need to [take it apart] and come up with something better,’ Diemer stated before adding that they don’t want to segment their community.

‘I cannot talk about the specifics of this, but we have something different in mind that will allow you to play longer, be [more] invested in the game without having a fragmented community.’

Putting specific maps and modes behind a paywall can definitely separate one’s community, which is a point Diemer went onto make, before saying that they ‘want to avoid that.’

After the interview, EA issued a statement to Mashable saying they’re not ready to talk about the inclusion/lack of a season pass just yet. They did, however, say that they’ve listened to feedback from fans of 2015’s Star Wars: Battlefront and are focused on delivering ‘more depth, more progression, and more content.’

Star Wars: Battlefront II is out on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on November 17.
