Star Wars Battlefront 2 gameplay and upcoming livestream revealed by DICE

In what will surprise precisely nobody, Star Wars Battlefront 2 (or II if you’re into Roman numerals and all that guff) gameplay was shown for the first time today.

Also announced was the date for an upcoming livestream of the game which will begin on June 10, 2017 at 16:30 BST. 

The livestream will showcase an event called the ‘Assault on Theed’, seen in The Phantom Menace. Gameplay will show both sides of the conflict. With you being able to play as Rey, Han Solo and a large squadron of Clone Troopers for the light side, and Darth Maul, Boba Fett, and an army of Droids for the Dark Side. 

John Boyega also popped up to announce that his character Finn will also be featuring in the multi-player elements of the game. Finn will be part of ‘The Last Jedi’ content, currently planned to release in December. Smart eh.

Taking inspiration (and scenes) from the upcoming film ‘The Last Jedi’, Star Wars Battlefront 2 is looking bigger and better in every possible way. A number of notable points were mentioned before they launched into a live-showing and accompanying commentary on some of the gameplay.

• Featuring a single-player campaign with a new story set in the Star Wars universe.
• Multi-player modes set across all three Star Wars eras (that is the original trilogy, the prequel trilogy and the recent movies that pretty much everyone alive saw)
• The inclusion of ‘Space combat’.
• Split-screen co-operative gameplay.
• No ‘Season Pass’, resulting in ‘free content that will keep us playing for years’.
