GSC Game World’s recent remasters of the original Stalker trilogy didn’t go down well with the Legends of the Zone trilogy still resting at a mixed reception on Steam. However, the studio is dedicated to improve the remasters, as well as bringing further support to its recently-released mod kit.
In the latest patch for the Stalker: Legends of the Zone Trilogy Enhanced Edition remasters, GSC Game World has annoyed the annoying advertisements from the games’ main menus. Now, if only other games could do the same.
GSC removes Stalker ads from new remasters
Prior to today, GSC Game World added advertisements to the game’s recent sequel into the old games. In the games’ menus, players would be blasted with the existence of Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl before they sat down to play the new remasters they just bought.
This advertisement was present in all three of the remastered games: Shadow of Chornobyl, Clear Sky and Call of Pripyat. While not a game-breaking addition to the remasters, it’s always annoying to see an advertisement for another game while you’re actively trying to play one, and it’s infuriatingly common practice nowadays.
In the latest update to the Legends of the Zone Trilogy Enhanced Edition re-releases, GSC quietly scrubbed all notices of the sequel from the older games. With hundreds of players already downloading a mod to remove the advertisement anyway, it was clear that fans simply didn’t want to quiet aura of the games’ menus to be littered with an ad for a game they already knew existed.
Usually, we report on every major Stalker update and it’s patch notes, but the release of Patch 1.1.1 saw patch notes so empty that they weren’t even worth discussing. While the remasters are more stable now, maybe telling fans that you’ve nuked the adverts that plagued the main menu of their favourite games would’ve been a good thing.
GSC Game World is also still working on Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl with more patches and upcoming expansions. The popular open-world game’s recent 1.5 update added so much that it’s impossible to list here, so we listed it here instead. Additionally, now that the game’s mod kit is live, we should see some truly impressive mods in the near future.
