GSC Game World’s Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl has been steadily improving with a slew of updates rapidly releasing for the game. As GSC continues working on the game’s extensive Q2 2025 roadmap, the Ukranian development studio is readying the survival game’s next major update.

Proposed to bring two new guns to the game—a new pistol and an early-game rifle—the new update will also bring a slew of bug fixes and gameplay improvements to the game. While the developer has not released an actual release date for the new update, we not have a release period.

Stalker 2 Patch 1.5 will release in a few weeks

Speaking to fans on the game’s official Discord server, GSC Game World confirmed that the game’s next major update will release in the coming weeks. According to the developer, the next major update will release in the second half of June.

“[Patch 1.5 will release in the] 2nd part of the month,” the developer said. “I would say more close to late June.”

Alongside the new guns, the Stalker 2 Patch 1.5 update will also bring more improvements to the game’s persistent A-Life mechanics. While the AI soldiers in the game have dramatically improved since the game’s broken launch, there’s still a lot of improvements to come.

Furthermore, the update should bring the game’s beta release of the ModKit SDK for fans. Currently, modders have released more difficult versions of the game and added in A-Life improvements, but fans aren’t able to create massive campaigns at the time of writing. The release of the game’s ModKit will fix this.

The rest of the improvements for the game’s Q2 roadmap are as follows

  • Mutant Loot
  • Shader Compilation Skip
  • Player Stash Window Increase
  • Further stabilisation, optimisation and anomalies fixing

Following the Q2 roadmap, Stalker 2 developer GSC Game World is also planning a Q3 and Q4 roadmap to bring further fixes and improvements to the game. Additionally, the developer is working on expansions for the game that bring “fresh new perspectives to the zone”, which is very exciting.
