Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl’s Q2 2025 roadmap is almost wrapped up with the game’s modding SDK in the “late stages” of development. Alongside the expected mutant loot, two new weapons and further optimisations, GSC Game World has confirmed new features are coming to the game alongside the already announced improvements.
Stalker 2 Update 1.5 brings bonus improvements
In a conversation with fans, GSC Game World revealed brand-new features that are coming to Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl. Coming with the already-expected features, the developers are adding reload renewal for more realistic conflicts, improved ammo features and more.
First and foremost, the studio is adding reload renewal, a feature seen in games like Insurgency Sandstorm and other games. This feature allows players to partially reload weapons, allowing them to switch from, say, a shotgun halfway through reloading to a new weapon and to half-fill a gun.
Right now, reloading any weapon in the game and switching to something else means restarting the full reload when you switch back, but this should improve the flow of gunfights. This new feature will not only add more realism to the survival game, but also make skirmishes more engaging.
“In the next 1.5 patch we are adding reload renewal feature for all of the weapons.” GSC told fans.
Additionally, the development team confirmed that they will be “working on improving the game balance for the truly hardcore stalkers” with both machine gun and sniper rifle ammo being “reworked” for the upcoming update.
Other updates coming to 1.5 include new performance optimisations, including “performance around stashes and other intractable objects”, the introduction of an “auto detect button to the graphics settings”, fixes for “ultrawide aspect ratios”, and the arrival of the game’s modding SDK.
“You can expect the Zone Kit Phase 1 to be released with Patch 1.5,” GSC confirmed. “We will continue to develop this tool in close cooperation with Mod Makers and Players, adding more and more features with frequent updates.”
GSC is also working on the early development of Stalker 2 expansions that will offer “fresh perspectives” on the Zone that have never been seen before. It’s very obvious that GSC are far from done with updating and improving the open-world survival game.
