GSC Game World has committed to years of updates for Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl. Keeping to the game’s Q2 2025 roadmap, the development team behind the survival game is currently prepping the upcoming 1.5 update.
Alongside the in-development ModKit for the game, GSC has announced that the next major update for its open-world game will include a number of new weapons for players to use.
Stalker 2 1.5 update adds new weapons
Explained in a recent GSC Q&A, the Stalker 2 developers explained that the 1.5 update will include two new weapons. The developer has not specifically stated which weapons will be added to the game, but they have teased the types of weapons players can expect.
When the update drops, the weapon sandbox will include a new “early game rifle” as well as a brand-new “pistol”. There’s no information on what these weapons are specifically, but they will be added in the next major patch.
“Yes, 1.5 will have two new weapons,” the developer said, “and some other much awaited features”.
There’s no specific release date for the next major Stalker 2 update, but GSC explains that it should launch sometime in the June. When asked about the update’s release date, the developer simply replied that they’re “aiming for next month”.
GSC Game World is cooking a lot of new content for Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl. Despite the game’s rough launch, there’s a strong foundation to build upon, and the team behind the game has expressed a desire to keep improving the game with A-Life improvements, reintroduction of cut content and more.
Additionally, development has started on the game’s official expansions which will offer “fresh new perspectives” on the Zone. A multiplayer co-op mode is also planned for the game, but there’s no release date for that.
Alongside continued Stalker 2 updates, the team is also working on patches for the recently released Legends of the Zone Trilogy Enhanced Edition games which have been negatively received due to censorship, new bugs and graphical issues.
