Super Smash Bros. Brawl creator Masahiro Sakurai, by way of the game’s official website, has revealed an all-new feature which could keep fans of the game busy for a very long time.

If you’ve ever dreamt of creating your own stage, then your dream will come true when SSBB hits stores next year.

Starting with a basic stage size, background pattern and music, players can then set about placing platforms and other objects into the stage designer: all objects can be flipped and resized. Once complete you can save your stage with a name and comment. It will also be compatible with SD cards meaning players needn’t worry about storage space.

Not only will custom stages be sharable between friends, but the best levels submitted to Nintendo will be distributed to all the game’s players via Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection. The plan is to send one user-generated stage to gamers every day. However, the current plan is to have this stage disappear after a day, making each stage a one day only affair.

Sakurai also notes that plans could change, so don’t be surprised if things operate a little differently on launch.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl is expected to be released across Europe early in 2008, following the release of the game in Japan (January 24) and North America (February 10).
