New information coming from articles in Japanese magazines Famitsu and Dengeki, kindly translated by FF-XIII.net, has revealed plans by Square Enix to release a playable demo of its highly anticipated PlayStation 3 RPG Final Fantasy XIII.
“2008 Will be the year,” said Square Enix game director and character designer Tetsuya Nomura, promising tons of new info on characters and summons.
The magazine articles also reveal that Square is hoping to give players a chance to sample the new battle system with the release of a demo, although when isn’t detailed.
Sadly there’s no info on a release date for the final game, Square only offering the rather unhelpful message: “I wonder when we’ll be able to sleep…”
The optimistic are still clinging onto a 2008 release, but we’re much more pessimistic and can’t see FFXIII making its way to Europe before 2009. We’d love to be proven wrong though.
