Square Enix CEO Yosuke Matsuda said that the publisher wants upcoming shooter Left Alive to be a ‘AAA brand,’ DualShockers reports.

During the company’s recent quarterly call with investors, Matsuda said ‘We want to make it into a AAA brand, but that does not mean that we intend to devote massive development costs to it.’ Sounds more like a AA game to me, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, whatsoever.

Matsuda made it clear that Square is targeting a core audience, stating ‘the game will be satisfying in a hardcore way, and that’s how we want to market it to players.’

Announced during this year’s Tokyo Game Show, Left Alive is a shooter set in the Front Mission universe that’s coming to PS4 and PC in 2018. The developer on the game has serious pedigree with members of the team having previously worked on Metal Gear Solid, Armored Core, Xenoblade Chronicles and more.Â
