Spyro Reignited Trilogy will require players to download a hefty patch on release in order to play Spyro 2: Ripto's Revenge and Spyro: Year of the Dragon, as both games are not included on the disc.

The only game playable straight out of the box will be the remake of the original Spyro the Dragon.

As confirmed via a Tweet by Wario64, the packaging art for the compilation clearly states that the game 'requires content download,' in this case for Spyro 2 and 3. This will probably raise a few eyebrows, seeing as how Blu-ray discs hold a ton of data and all.

Spyro Reignited's publisher, Activision, issued the following comment to PlayStationLifestyle on the matter:

'The global launch date of Spyro Reignited Trilogy is September 21; and we’re excited for fans to play all three reignited games on that day. As with most games today, downloading an update after purchase is quite common.'

'The language on packaging and on the web is to let players know the requirements for Spyro Reignited Trilogy.'

Spyro Reignited Trilogy is pencilled in for a September 21 release on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and includes a remastered score by The Police's Stewart Copeland.
