There remains a chance that Xbox 360 and PS3 gamers will be treated to a high definition version of the first Disney Epic Mickey Game, Junction Point Studios boss and founder Warren Spector has told VideoGamer.com.
Asked about the possibility of seeing the Wii exclusive platformer released in HD, perhaps as an Xbox LIVE Arcade or PSN title, Spector said: “Who knows? You don’t want to know how many games I’ve wanted to make that never got made for one reason or another.
“I’m still lobbying for an HD version of the first game. We’ll see if it happens.”
On the upcoming sequel, Power of Two, Spector explained the decision not to support Kinect.
“We never went as far as prototyping or anything but we certainly talked about it a lot,” he told VideoGamer.com. “At the end of the day, we just couldn’t figure out how to allow freeform exploration of Wasteland with Kinect as our connection to the console.
“It didn’t seem to make much sense to create a game that didn’t showcase hardware or gameplay to their best advantage so we punted.”
Disney Epic Mickey: Power of Two will be released September 2012 for Wii, PS3 and Xbox 360. Read more word from Spector by checking out our complete interview.
We reckon an HD version of Epic Mickey will appear, but perhaps only on PS3 thanks to its pointer based PlayStation Move controller. Bringing the game to Xbox 360 might prove too much of an effort unless the same control scheme seen in the upcoming game is ported over.
