Space Marine 2 devs confirm “large-scale’ anniversary update and an extra year of free content due to “your unwavering support”

Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 is the best-selling 40K video game ever. Saber’s brilliant action game has sold so much that other 40K titles are seeing the benefit, and there’s more on the way. 

After just releasing the brilliant Patch 8 update with the game’s hectic Siege Mode, Saber has already promised a major customisation overhaul for the future. However, even more goodies are coming to the game later this year. 

Space Marine 2 Anniversary Celebration

In an update to fans, Saber Interactive explained that Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 will receive a massive update for its first anniversary in September 2025. 

Additionally, fans will be granted an extra year of post-launch content with more Operations, PvP updates, new weapons, cosmetics and more. This “extended support” is only possible due to fans’ “unwavering support”, the developer explained. 

Alongside the free updates, Saber will also be releasing more paid DLC with additional cosmetic packs featuring new Ultramarine Chapters and more. Of course, all cosmetic DLCs also have to stick to the Warhammer 40K canon. 

“We’re happy to announce that a second year of both free and DLC content included in a new yearly season pass is on the way!” Saber told fans. “This extended support to Space Marine 2 has been possible thanks to your unwavering support, so once again, thank you very much for being part of it! Expect new PvE missions, enemies, weapons, and… more.”

While not part of the game’s September Anniversary Update, Saber has confirmed that it’s working on a new Power Axe melee weapon with “its own moveset, animations” as well as the new Techmarine class and a new PvP mode that’s Chaos vs Chaos where players fight to take control of a powerful Hellbrute.
