Space Invaders is the latest game to get a cinema outing, and it's coming from New Line Cinema with the screenwriter of the upcoming Mortal Kombat movie on board.

As reported by Deadline, Warner Bros bought the movie rights to the franchise some time ago, and is now finally making official progress with it, with New Line bringing on Greg Russo to write the screenplay.

There's no word on plotlines or anything like that at this early stage, but Russo recently confirmed fatalities and an R rating will be coming to the Mortal Kombat script he penned, and he's also apparently responsible for writing the script for the upcoming Resident Evil movie reboot, so it seems when it comes to game-related movies, he's considered a safe pair of hands.
