Sony will close Little Deviants developer BigBig and restructure Sony Cambridge, the company has confirmed to Develop.

BigBig has recently finished work on PS Vita launch title Little Deviants (a game often used by Sony to showcase the Vita hardware) – previously the studio produced a number of excellent PSP titles, including MotorStorm Arctic Edge and the Pursuit Force series.

Sony Cambridge will now focus on developing Killzone titles for the Vita in collaboration with Guerrilla Games. The studio’s previous hits include MediEvil on the PlayStation, the visually excellent Primal and Ghosthunter on PlayStation 2, and LittleBigPlanet on PSP.

“… by focusing on other Studios that are currently working on exciting new projects, we would be in a stronger position to offer the best possible content for our consumers,” Sony told Develop.

Firm details are still to be finalised at Sony, with the number of job losses currently unclear. Other Sony studios in the UK shouldn’t be affected.
