Sony Computer Entertainment has revealed that registrations for the PlayStation Network have reached approximately 9.8 million. This means that 45% of PlayStation 3 owners have created a PSN account.

PSN has also distributed approximately 86 peta bytes of data, a figure Sony says is equal to 17 million single-layer DVDs – strangely they chose not to use Blu-ray for the analogy.

Back in May Microsoft announced its Xbox LIVE service (Gold and Silver) has 12 million members.
