Sony Computer Entertainment Japan has handed a new batch of PlayStation Awards to PlayStation titles which have been a hit in Japan. The publisher of an award-winning game is also handed a cash prize of varying value depending on the level of award achieved.

Gold Prize awards ($5,362) were given to titles which shipped between 500,000 and a million units. These included Metal Gear Solid 4, Crisis Core – Final Fantasy VII, Phantasy Star Portable, Winning Eleven 2008 and Super Robot Taisen.

No titles earned a Platinum Prize, but one game did earn the Double Platinum gong. Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G on PSP shipped over two million units and publisher Capcom was rewarded with a $21,449 bonus.
