There’s a new Sony approved controller coming soon from Japanese accessory manufacturer HORI. The Wired Mini Gamepad comes in three colours (black, red and blue) and sports a neat, highly-compact design, which makes it an ideal first PS4 controller for the young uns.

The Mini Gamepad certainly lives up to its petite moniker. Sadly, it’s not wireless and can only be used when connected directly to the console through its USB cable. The cable is 10ft long, though, so length won’t be an issue. The mini is also 40% smaller than the DualShock 4 controller, and that was already quite small for some people.

The petite controller has already gained a few fans who’ve said they can’t wait to get their hands on the diminutive Gamepad, which promises to provide an easy and comfortable grip for those with smaller hands.

There’s no touchpad on this controller, although you’ll be able to simulate a range of touch pad gestures using the analogue sticks. The Mini Gamepad has also omitted the rumble feature, the stereo headset jack, and doesn’t feature the light bar or motion controls. This will sadly make it unsuitable for use in Until Dawn.

For those who don’t like the revealed colours, HORI has said that it’s making a pretty cute Dragon Quest Slime-themed controller, but you may have to import that one.

You’ll be able to pick up the HORI Wired Mini Gamepad from November 6, and it’ll retail for $29.99 USD, though there’s no confirmation on UK or EU pricing at the moment. Expect it to cost between £25-£30.
