God of War remains unequivocally one of the biggest games of 2018 on any console, and Sony’s now said that it hopefully won’t be long until we finally get our mitts on a release date for the hotly anticipated action-adventure.

Right now we only know the PS4-exclusive is due out at some point this year, with a concrete launch window yet to be confirmed. However, speaking to Japan’s gaming bible (otherwise known as Famitsu, via DualShockers), Chris Ashimine, Sony Interactive Entertainment’s localisation chief for Japan and Asia, reckons a date will be unveiled by the team soon enough.

That’s about all we have to go on right now, although it’s certainly encouraging news considering we’ve been waiting just over 18 months now since the game’s initial E3 2016 reveal.

God of War is something of a soft reboot for the franchise, with Kratos returning alongside his young son but now squaring off against hulking beasts plucked from Norse mythology. Despite his new companion, Sony has assured us that the ankle-biter won’t turn the PlayStation franchise into one large escort mission.

As soon as we hear of a concrete God of War release date we’ll be sure to let you know.
