PlayStation 3 and PSP interaction has been something Sony has been keen to get rolling, with Remote Play already showing off how two systems can work together.

Over at CES Sony has now demoed additional functionality that PSP/PS3 owners can look forward too. With compatible Blu-ray movies those with a PS3 and PSP will be able to make a copy of the movie to view on their PSP, meaning only one purchase of the movie is necessary for viewing at home and when out and about.

“This way, you can have a portable copy you can take with you,” explained David Bishop, president of Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. “There was always the promise of greater interactivity. You’ll see that coming in the New Year.”

Taking a lower resolution copy of a movie for playback on the PSP isn’t an entirely new concept, with Fox and Warner having previously released DVD versions of Die Hard 4.0 and Harry Potter: The Order of the Phoenix respectively with this feature.
