Good news for Killzone fans: Sony’s finally confirmed a third game in the graphically stupendous shooter series is in the works from developer Guerrilla Games.

Speaking on Gametrailers TV at the recent Game Developers Conference in San Francisco, Sony Computer Entertainment America president Jack Tretton said: “We own Guerrilla Studios and they did a great job on Killzone 1 and 2.

“I don’t know when you’ll see any announcements about it but I can promise you a Killzone 3.”

This year’s E3 looks like a good bet for a proper reveal. On the mega trade show, Tretton beamed: “This is just the frosting on the cake. I’m saving the batter for E3. We will absolutely bring the heat. You gotta be at our press conference. There’s a lot to talk about.”

Killzone 2 blew our socks off on its February 2009 release, with some of the best graphics we’d ever seen. If Killzone 3 betters it, which it surely will in terms of visuals, then we’re in for a treat.

Tretton was also asked by Gametrailers presenter Geoff Keighley whether the recently announced PS Move motion controller was better than Microsoft’s controller-less Natal camera peripheral.

He replied: “If you really want to get involved in playing with a camera I suggest you go out and buy a $99 PlayStation 2 and play some of the great technology we invented eight years ago. I think ultimately [the Move] is next generation motion gaming.” Zing.

Both the PS Move and Natal are set to lock horns later this year.
