The Develop Industry Excellence Awards, Europe’s only dedicated games developer awards ceremony, are now in their fifth year. Voted for by a panel of industry experts, the awards celebrate achievements across all areas of game development.
Guest of Honour at this year’s event was Richard Garriott, creator of the Ultima series and Executive Producer of NCsoft’s Tabula Rasa.
This year’s winners include Evolution Studios and Zoe Mode, who shared the award for best new IP for MotorStorm and Crush respectively. Traveller’s Tales picked up best independent developer and the award for best use of a license (Lego Star Wars II).
Realtime Worlds went home with the innovation award for Crackdown, best use of online went to Eden Studios for Test Drive Unlimited and Rare’s Viva Piñata bagged the visual arts award.
Ubisoft France was awarded the best in-house developer and SEGA was voted the industry’s publishing hero. Sony won the Grand Prix award and Ian Hetherington, co-founder of Psygnosis, was crowned Development Legend.
