Universal Pictures has dropped a new trailer for the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog 2 live action movie.

The latest footage sees is a pastiche of a certain Man-with-an-affinity-for Bats who has a movie out this week. Our favourite Blue Blur becomes Blue Justice as we get to see the hero fight off a few criminals. Of course, we also get a glimpse at Jim Carrey’s much-more game accurate (this time around) depiction of Dr Eggman/Robotnik. And we also get another look at Idris Elba’s Knuckles, who’s sure to be a thorn in Sonic & Tails side.

Chaos Emeralds, Tails’ biplane & plenty of other nods to the games are here including what looks to be a giant Death Egg. All the ingredients are in place then, with the movie out at the beginning of next month.

Of course as we heard last month this won’t be the last cinematic adventure from the speedster. A third movie has already been greenlit, alongside a television series spin-off starring Knuckles. Idris Elba is already a lock to return for the series, we’ll have to wait and see if Sonic himself shows up too.

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 will arrive in UK cinemas on April 1, with a US release one week later on April 8.
