Sega has released a gloriously 90s-flavoured Sonic Mania Plus infomercial to celebrate the game's launch on PlayStation 4, Switch, and Xbox One today.

Featuring old-school TVs and a stereotypically sleazy salesman, the ad sees a punter given the choice of two games: Sonic Mania Plus, and a generic, unnamed FPS. He ends up buying Sonic Mania Plus, obviously, because that would just be daft otherwise.

Anyway, it's pretty good fun, and has no qualms about taking the piss out of modern shooters and loot boxes.

Sonic Mania Plus is basically a physical release of last year's Sonic Mania, only it features a bunch of new features including additional playable characters. Colm reviewed the Blue Blur's 2D platforming romp last summer, and thought it was a solid title, if a little to reliant on nostalgia.

Despite its success, Sega isn't looking to make a Sonic Mania 2 anytime soon
