Sega has revealed that Sonic Generations will be released in the UK on November 4.

The game features revised versions of classic Sonic levels, culled from the hedgehog’s adventures over the past two decades. Players can choose to play each stage as either Classic Sonic, or as the slightly larger Modern Sonic.

If you pick the former, the action plays out as a 2D scrolling platformer; selecting the latter results in a 3D gameplay style that resembles Sonic Unleashed, or last years Sonic Colors. Depending on your choice, you’ll take a different path through each level.

Sonic the Werehog is unlikely to make an appearance.

Last week Sega revealed details of Sonic Generations Collector’s Edition, featuring figurines, art work, and an individually-numbered gold ring. Please note that the latter will not give you added protection against metal spikes, or against any other life-threatening hazard.

Sonic Generations will be released on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Nintendo 3DS.
