Sony has altered its statement on controller support for PlayStation VR, confirming that some PSVR games will require a PlayStation Move after all.
Earlier this week, the platform holder told Eurogamer that “all PlayStation VR titles will support DualShock 4 controllers”. However, it later reversed its statement to The Verge, clarifying that “nearly all PlayStation VR titles will support DualShock 4 controllers”, adding that “there will be a limited number of titles that require Move controllers.” Here’s the two statements:
ORIGINAL STATEMENT:
“All PlayStation VR titles will support DualShock 4 controllers. However some game experiences will be enhanced with the use of peripherals such as Move or the recently announced Aim controller. Images being shown of PSVR packaging on some websites are early mock ups and not representative of the finished packaging.
UPDATED STATEMENT:
“Nearly all PlayStation VR titles will support DualShock 4 controllers, and several games will deliver an enhanced experience that further immerses gamers with the use of peripherals such as Move or the recently announced Aim controller. There will be a limited number of titles that require Move controllers.”
While the list of games that require a PlayStation Move has yet to be finalised, early indications suggest that launch title PlayStation VR Worlds will be one of them. Controller requirements will be clearly labelled on each game’s box art, judging by these early covers.
Pre-order PlayStation VR now ahead of its October 13 release(?)
