Activision has today announced that it will release Soldier of Fortune Payback for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC in November. The publisher has been holding the game tight to its chest for some time now, with no real info available before today’s press release.

The game will see players taking on the role of a hired mercenary who must blast his way through battle scenes in the world’s most dangerous criminal and terrorist hotspots.

SoF Payback promises the same signature gameplay of its predecessors only now with refined controls and an enemy damage system that is said to be shocking to even experienced FPS players.

The game boasts more weapon options than previous games, including sub-machine guns, assault rifles, projectile explosives, weapon attachments and cutting-edge tactical weapons.

The single-player story begins when a routine escort mission goes horribly wrong and freelance mercenary Thomas Mason finds himself battling an enemy that knows no boundaries.

We’re also told to expect plenty of multiplayer options with Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Elimination, Team Elimination, Capture the Flag and Demolition modes all present and correct. Additional online functionality includes persistent stat-tracking throughout the gamer’s online career and customisable server settings.

Soldier of Fortune Payback is scheduled for release on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC in November.
