City Interactive has confirmed it is working on a sequel to commercially successful but critically loathed shooter Sniper: Ghost Warrior.

The news was revealed in a Eurogamer.se interview with chief producer Michal Sroczynski. A release date and official title is yet to be announced, but Sroczynski confirmed the game is being developed using Crytek’s CryEngine 3.

The original game was developed using Techland’s Chrome Engine, which was also used for Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood and Nail’d.

Jamin Smith penned the 3/10 review of Sniper: Ghost Warrior for VideoGamer.com, calling the game “one of the worst shooters this generation” and criticising it for “a frightening lack of originality, uninspired objectives and a shedload of technical issues.”

Sniper: Ghost Warrior is already available on 360 and PC, and a PS3 version – which will come with a raft of promised improvements – is scheduled for 2011.
