United Front Games’ next game has been revealed – and it isn’t Sleeping Dogs 2.

Heading to Steam Early Access in September, ‘Smash + Grab’ appears to put players in control of a gang member on the hunt for “loot, power and infamy”. Further details have yet to be revealed, but by the look of the trailer (above) it seems to be a loot-based multiplayer brawler similar to 2002’s beat ’em up State of Emergency.

Expect to hear much more on the game soon.

UPDATE: UFG has revealed more details on the game, confirming that it’s a 3v3 multiplayer brawler that sees two teams of players racing to collect $50k of loot within 15-minute matches.

“Each team will need to grapple, shoot, and smash their way to victory by collecting $50k in goods from locked-down, high-end shopping districts – or from the opposing team!” says UFG. “In rapid-fire, 15-minute matches, players raid increasingly larger stores, mod lethal new weapons like chain-saw-shovels and poison-crossbows, and afterward, level up with new perks and clothing.”

Two multiplayer maps and modes will be included during the Early Access phase, alongside an offline practice mode.

“Smash + Grab combines our love of competitive online games with our expertise in action mechanics and hand-to-hand combat, sharpened during our development of Sleeping Dogs,” said UFG CEO Stephen Van Der Mescht. “The playtesting rivalries got pretty intense in the studio during development, and we hope to see the same reaction on a bigger scale with Smash + Grab’s Early Access launch.”
