The action-adventure Call of Duty spin-off Sledgehammer Games was working on before it was conscripted to assist in the production of Modern Warfare 3 could still see the light of day, according to Activision.

“We haven’t announced the future slate or future plans for the studio,” said Activision Publishing boss Eric Hirshberg in an interview with Industry Gamers. “They were originally working on an extension of the Call of Duty franchise into an action/adventure genre and that’s a game I still want to play. That’s a supreme, incredible group doing that. All I can say is right now they’re 100 per cent focused on Modern Warfare 3.”

Hirshberg has also revealed that Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer had ‘creative tensions’ over MW3, but that the strong working relationship between the studios has made Modern Warfare 3 a better game overall.

Modern Warfare 3 will launch for Xbox 360, PS3, and PC on November 8.
