Bethesda has announced that Skyrim: Special Edition is getting a free weekend on Xbox One and sadly it seems that this is an Xbox One exclusive free play weekend only. Sorry PS4 owners. This is great news for precisely seven people that’ve yet to play the game. It’s available to download right now.

The game will also be available for purchase at 50% off throughout the weekend, making it £25.00. If players choose to buy the game at any point over the course of the free play period, all of their progress, including achievements and trophies, will carry over into the full game. That’s kinda neat.

This is a great opportunity for those of you who wish to dive back into the epic fantasy game after many years away. It’s received a substantial enhancement over its original Xbox 360 (and PS3) release. Skyrim: Special Edition features remastered art and effects, dynamic depth of field, fancy new snow/water shaders, redone textures, and mod support on Xbox One and PS4.

Skyrim: Special Edition is out now on Xbox One, PS4 and PC.
