Sony Computer Entertainment Europe has announced the immediate availability of PSP system software 3.90, bringing a new range of voice and video chat options to the Sony handheld.
At the time of writing system update 3.90 isn’t available from yourpsp.com but is expected very soon.
Once the PSP update is complete a Skype icon will be added to the Network category in the PSP’s home menu. Skype will enable PSP users to communicate with other Skype users from around the world over the internet, with calls between Skype users being free of charge. Skype also enables PSP users to make calls to landlines and mobile phones anywhere in the world and to receive calls from landlines and mobile phones – both require the purchase of Skype credit.
Update 3.90 also ads the Go!Messenger icon, which when enabled towards the end of February will offer all PSP users (old and new) the ability to voice and video chat. For more information on what Go!Messenger will offer click on the icon on your PSP to open a dedicated website.
