Skylanders Giants will be toy distributor The In Thing’s “biggest ever product launch”, the firm’s MD has suggested, beating previous product launches from Pokemon, Moshi Monsters, Yu-Gi-Oh and Angry Birds.

Speaking to Toy News, The In Thing, which supplies ‘pocket money’ toys to all major toy chains and over 5000 independent retailers, said that “substantial initial interest” for the toys meant that “Skylanders Giants will without doubt be [the] company’s biggest ever product launch.”

Managing Director Paul Jackson continued: “The huge pre Christmas TV/marketing spend from Activision on Giants will ensure Giants dwarfs any product we have ever been involved with by a massive margin.”

Skylanders Giants is the second game in Activision’s hit series. The game encourages players to collect physical toys which they can then play as in the game.

Skylanders Giants introduces over 40 new figures, including a selection of characters over twice the size of the original Skylanders cast.

Back in July, Activision told VideoGamer.com that a movie and TV series based on the Skylanders universe was a possibility, and that the firm had sold two to three times the amount of toys than it initially anticipated.
