EA and Full Circle Studio has officially revealed the early access release date for Skate, the long-awaited return to the open-world skateboarding game. This is the first game in the series in 15 years following 2010’s Skate 3.
Following a lengthy trial period with fans as the team prepares the series’ first live-service entry for a modern audience, EA has slated the Skate release date for September 16, 2025 across PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series consoles.
Skate early access date announced
EA’s next entry in the Skate series will not launch in its completed form. As a new live-service entry, the new game will launch in early access on all platforms on September 16, 2026 with major updates planned to add new tricks, events, cosmetics and more.
Described as an ever-evolving online skateboarding sandbox, Full Circle has created the latest entry in the series “with a forever vision in mind”. Set in the city of San Vansterdam, the series’ brilliant Flick-It system returns in an upgraded form to be more responsive than ever with the same physics we know and love.
As a live-service MMO skating experience, the new Skate supports massive servers with over 100 players in a single server as you explore the world around you. Alongside the traditional missions, players will be able to “Quick Drop” ramps, rails, benches and more to turn epic spots into exhilarating skate lines that anyone can use.
“Skate is not just a return, it’s a complete evolution of the franchise that’s built to last,” said Mike McCartney, the game’s Executive Producer. “Our goal with Skate is to capture the freedom, creative expression and community of skateboarding, and share it with as many people as possible. From day one, our priority has been to honor the legacy of the franchise while pushing it into a bold new future – one built in partnership with our players.”
At the time of writing, we’ve already had our hands on with the new Skate, but we can’t tell you anything just yet. You’ll have to wait until tomorrow to hear more about our time with the game.
