SingStar: Ultimate Party, a 30 track compilation disc celebrating the 10-year anniversary of the karaoke series, will launch for PS3 and PS4 later this year.

Most exciting is news that Sony is releasing a free companion app for both consoles which turns an iOS or Android phone into a compatible microphone.

In addition to a range of new social features and sharing options, the PS4 camera will enable new augmented reality features which turn player lounges into music sets and place masks on singers.

Chris Bruce, game director of SingStar commented: “I’m really excited about the new SingStar as we’ve really worked hard to bring the game right up to date for PS4 with a brand new look and feature set.

“The new microphone app means SingStar is now for everyone, and we’re looking forward to introducing a new generation of singers to the brand. Personally I can’t wait to see some of the new videos the community will be sharing. They never fail to surprise us with their inventiveness, so who knows what they’re going to do with the new PS4 camera and augmented reality effects… it’s sure to be entertaining!”

SingStar: Ultimate Party will carry a proposed retail price of 29 Euro, whist additional songs will cost £1.15 each and £5.35 for a pack of five.

Sadly existing PS3 and PS2 SingStar discs won’t be compatible, but wired and wireless microphones will work.
