As part of its Hanabi Festival celebration Nintendo has been releasing previously never seen titles in Europe via its Wii Virtual Console. Today sees the release of the classic Nintendo 64 3D third-person shooter Sin And Punishment. Originally released in 2000, Sin And Punishment sees players fighting off a non-stop barrage of bio-genetic monsters called Ruffians.

Although never released outside of Japan, the game has had some of the in-game text translated into English especially for this Hanabi Festival release.

Also released as part of the Hanabi Festival is Konami’s side-scrolling shmup Gradius III. Here players take control of the Vic Viper Starfighter and battle against the armadas of the Bacterion Empire. This Super Nintendo version, originally released in the US, is now available in Europe for the first time.

Also released today, although not part of the Hanabi Festival, is Legend of Hero Tonma. In this platform shooter players assume the role of Tonma, a trainee magician who must rescue a princess from prison.

Sin And Punishment is priced 1200 Wii Points, Gradius III 900 Wii Points and Legend of Hero Tonma 600 Wii Points. Also a quick reminder that Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels is now available on the Virtual Console, but only until September 30.
