Silent Hill: Downpour will miss its planned November 2011 release, instead launching in the first quarter of 2012, Konami has confirmed to Eurogamer.

No reason for the delay was given.

Downpour, the eighth title in the franchise, marks the series’ return to the PS3 and Xbox 360 and features a completely original story which follows Murphy Pendleton, a convict stranded in Silent Hill. Pendleton begins the game lost and alone in the woods on the outskirts of the fabled town after his prison transport bus crashes.

Acclaimed composer, Daniel Licht (Dexter), is producing the game’s soundtrack.
