Sigourney Weaver has discussed her role in Alien: Isolation, saying that she was “touched” by the game’s story of Amanda Ripley exploring space on the search for her mother.

“The idea of the game is that Ripley’s daughter Amanda, who actually in my role as Ripley in [Aliens] I had come back to Earth after she’d died. And so when they said we want to follow Amanda looking for you in her explorations of space, I was very touched by that,” said Weaver, speaking to the Associated Press about reprising her role as Ellen Ripley in the game’s pre-order DLC.

“I had to start with the sort of sign-off,” she continued, “‘This is Lieutenant Ripley of the starship Nostromo’. You know, that paragraph, and I felt like no time had passed.”

It was revealed yesterday that the cast of the original Alien movie would be reuniting to reprise their roles as the crew of the Nostromo in two downloadable missions.

The missions will see players reliving two key scenes from the movie, including Ripley’s attempt to arm the Nostromo’s self-destruct sequence.

Alien: Isolation releases on Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and PC on October 7.
