Shenmue 3 delayed and will now launch in the second half of 2018

The much-anticipated Shenmue 3 has been delayed.

In a video update on the game’s Kickstarter page, Shenmue III Director Yu Suzuki confirmed that the game wouldn’t be released until the second half of 2018. ‘In order to achieve the game concept you supported and my sixteen year-long personal dream, we have revised the development schedule,’ Suzuki said. He added that developer Ys Net is planning to release the game ‘in the second half of 2018.’

Last week it was announced that Shenmue wouldn’t be making an appearance at E3 this year so the team could focus on actually making the thing, which lead many to believe a delay was on the cards. And here we are.

Almost 70,000 people donated over $6.3 million to bring Shenmue back to life on Kickstarter in June 2015. Shenmue 3 is scheduled to be released on PlayStation 4 and PC when it actually does come out
