A new trailer for Middle-earth: Shadow of War from Comic Con reveals not only that Shelob will feature in the game, but that she’s able to a) deliver prophecy and b) manifest as a hot human, this apparently being a necessary of delivering prophecy. It feels like kind of an odd choice to us, but you may disagree.

You may remember Shelob from the books and/or Peter Jackson’s lauded film adaptations as a giant evil spider, and you would be correct in this remembrance, but in the Shelob reveal trailer we see Talion cosying up to a dark-haired, fine featured woman so she can show him a vision of the possible future. Fear not, purists, for we also see him fighting an actual giant spider to, which we assume is also her.

It seems Shelob, in accordance with an evil spider monster, might be a bit of a fair-weather friend to Talion and his wraith buddy, and we’re not sure how much she’ll appear in the game yet. Her reveal, however, does chime with what Monolith’s creative VP Michael de Plater said interview about the game featuring some ‘key characters from the lore.’ There may be further reveals to come.

Middle-earth: Shadow of War is the sequel to Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor. It’s out on Xbox One, PC and PS4 on October 10, and despite weird sexy spider ladies we’re quite looking forwards to it.
