Shatter Remastered Deluxe, a revamped version of the 2009 game, is coming to consoles and PC in late 2022.

Shatter was first released for the PlayStation 3 in 2009. It was a very fruitful riff on Breakout, and it was critically acclaimed. It came to PC in 2010, and Mac in 2012. Now it is back, in remastered form. Check out the announcement trailer below:

The description reads:

“Relive the award-winning classic that redefined a genre. Shatter returns in stunning 4K resolution running at 120fps, with a modernised UI, and multiple visual improvements. Re-experience the highly acclaimed original soundtrack, remixed and remastered in 5.1 surround sound.”

The developer of the original was Sidhe, formerly known as Sidhe Interactive, a New Zealand-based studio. The same team also made GripShift, for the PSP—an absolute gem.

The developer behind the remaster is PikPok, who wrote, following the announcement:

“Take advantage of the unique ‘Suck and Blow’ mechanic to control the angle of each ball’s trajectory for precision attacks. Grab essential powerups like the Unstoppaball and Maneuveraball to deliver maximum damage.”

PikPok also described the “richly-detailed sci-fi-inspired stages with improved VFX running at native 4K 120 FPS.” If you were a fan of Shatter, the new game looks to be both a nostalgia blast and a frenetic modern blaster.

Shatter Remastered is coming to PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC in late 2022.
