Daedelic Entertainment has announced that the well received PC strategy title, Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun, is now out on PS4 and Xbox One.

Shadow Tactics is a tactical stealth action game where the player will control one of five unique characters, who each have their own skillset. Shadow Tactics characters comprise of a ninja, samurai, a geisha who distracts guards with her beauty (and is pretty handy at killing them too!), a trapper who uses alcohol for deception and finally a sniper, who does, well snipery things.

With a gameplay style very similar to Commandos, which had mostly 2D environments, the environments in this game are rendered in 3D, which means the camera can be rotated freely. Shadow Tactics also requires the player to use stealth to avoid or distract the enemies, who have a cone of vision similar to the Metal Gear Solid games. Players will have to tactically infiltrate a variety of enemy compounds and towns, utilising the skillsets of the game’s characters according to each situation. The player can even use Shadow Mode to coordinate a variety of strategic approaches in order to achieve the mission goal.

It can seem quite moribund in its premise, but seriously it looks like heaps of fun. With a neat graphical style, smooth gameplay and samurais and ninjas, what’s not to love? Unless you hate strategy games. Then this isn’t for you.

Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun is out now on PS4, Xbox One and came out at the end of 2016 on PC. There’s also a demo which you can try before you buy, if you like.
