Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has released a new trailer for Middle-earth: Shadow of War introducing a new DLC character. The character is Forthog the Orc-Slayer and he’s been created to honoured the memory of Middle-earth: Shadow of War’s executive producer, Mike ‘Forthog’ Forgey, who passed away during the development of the game.

Michael Forgey passed away in 2016 after a year long battle with a rare form of cancer known as glioblastoma. He’s been immortalised in the game by his colleagues and appears as the legendary Forthog Orc-Slayer. A nigh-on unstoppable warrior who ends up saving the game’s protagonist, Talion, from an orc and certain death. The music in the trailer was written and performed by Michael Forgey himself, which is as apt a homage as any.

The rest of the trailer shows Forthog slicing his way through enemies in an obscenely violent, yet emotional way. It ends with a message from the development team.

‘Mike ‘Forthog’ Forgey was our Executive Producer and great friend here at Monolith. We lost Mike to cancer during the development of Shadow of War and we want to remember and honor him with a little bit of immortality in Mordor. The legendary Forthog Orcslayer is our way to continue having Mike leap into battle and save us when we’re down.’

Players who buy the £3.99 Forthog Orc-Slayer DLC will unlock a character who’ll occasionally turn up to dispatch the overwhelming orc threat, before heading off on his way. Warner Bros. has said that of the proceeds raised from DLC sales, $3.50 will go to the family of Michael Forgey.

Middle-earth: Shadow of War is out on October 10 for PS4, Xbox One and PC
