Shadow of the Tomb Raider developer Eidos Montreal has given Lara Croft a few new tricks for when she's clambering about the place and scaling precarious cliff faces in her latest adventure.

You can take a look at the nimble treasure-pilferer in action below, which reveals how the studio has refined the climbing mechanics for Lara's highly anticipated sequel. It's brief, but gives you a good idea how things will play out.

It certainly shows how far the series has come since its debut in 1996. Remember how annoying it was having to perfectly line up each jump, only for Lara to bonk her head on a rock and fall to a screamy doom? It was even worse when you hadn't saved the game in ages. Bugger that.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider will be swinging into stores for PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One on September 14, and there should be no delays now that development has wrapped.

The game will feature a hub world known as Paititi, which is said to be the largest in the franchise to date.
