Eidos Montreal has confirmed in a new blog post that Shadow of the Tomb Raider will allow you to tweak the difficulty for three gameplay pillars: combat, puzzles, and traversal.
Each of these can be changed in the options screen, where you'll have the option of selecting from Easy, Normal, Hard, and Deadly Obsession. However, when picking the latter, it will apply to all three categories and cannot be switched during your playthrough.
As an example, setting Combat to easy will give you more ammo and an easier time defeating enemies, while on the most difficult setting, it'll be the complete opposite.
Meanwhile, an easy Traversal setting will light base camps and make it clear which direction you are meant to go in regards to climbable surfaces, although on hard camps will remain unlit and you'll have to figure out where you have to go without any pointers.
Shadow of the Tomb Raider is out on September 14 for PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One. Have a butcher's at the latest gameplay teaser, which looks at some of Lara's stealthy shenanigans.
